Privacy Policy

Version 2026-07-08 — effective July 8, 2026

This is the plain-language privacy policy for Swizzl's private beta. The short version: we collect what you give us to make the product work, we use beta sessions to improve the product, and we don't sell your data.

1. What we collect

  • Account identity — your email address or phone number (used for sign-in), and your name and profile picture if you sign in with Google.
  • Decision content — the decisions you create, the answers you give, your stances and notes, and your chats with the system.
  • Usage and model logs — records of the AI calls made for your sessions (prompts, responses, token counts) and basic technical data needed to run the service.
  • Visits and pages viewed — we keep our own first-party record of visits to our site: the page you arrived on, the pages you opened, roughly how long each page was open in front of you, the site or ad that referred you, and the country our content network reports for the request. We record a general device type (phone, tablet or computer) and browser family, not the detailed browser fingerprint your device sends. We do notstore your IP address in these records, and we don't know anything narrower than your country. This is measured by us, for us — there is no third-party analytics service, no advertising network tag, and none of it leaves our own database.
  • Technical data and cookies — standard log data your browser sends (like IP address and browser type), and a small set of cookies we need to run the product: your sign-in session, a device identifier, and a record that you checked the consent box. The device identifier is the same first-party cookie used above, which is what lets a visit and the session it turns into be counted as one person rather than two. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

2. How we use it

  • To operate the product — generating your sections, items, and paths.
  • To improve the product during the private beta: we can and likely will review sessions, as spelled out in the Terms of Service, which you accept with the same checkbox.
  • To sign you in and keep your account secure.
  • To understand how people find and use the site — how many arrive, what they read, and what helps them get started.

We do not sell your data, and we don't use it for third-party advertising.

3. Who processes your data

Running Swizzl means some of your data passes through the services we build on:

  • Anthropic — the AI models that generate your decision content receive the relevant parts of your session.
  • Twilio — sends and checks the one-time sign-in codes, and delivers the text messages described in section 10 if you opted in to those (sees your email or phone number).
  • Google — if you sign in with Google.
  • Slack — where our team reads and answers texts you send us (sees those messages and the number they came from).
  • Cloudflare and Neon — our hosting and database infrastructure, where your data is stored.
  • SerpApi — when the product runs web searches to ground recommendations, the search queries (derived from your decision) are sent to it.

4. When we might disclose data

Beyond the providers above, we would disclose personal data only: if the law requires it (for example a valid legal request); if it's needed to protect the safety, rights, or property of our users, the public, or Swizzl; or, if Swizzl is ever acquired or reorganized, to the parties in that transaction — in which case this policy's protections follow the data.

Our infrastructure providers may store and process data in the United States and other locations where they operate.

5. How long we keep it

We keep your account and decision content while your account is active, so you can return to your workspaces. Model-call logs are kept for debugging and product improvement during the beta. When the beta ends, data may be deleted (see the Terms). To have your account and data deleted sooner, email us.

6. Your rights

Email us and we'll do it: you can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, get a copy of it, correct something that's wrong, or delete your account and data entirely.

7. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. That said, no internet service can promise perfect security, so think before putting anything into Swizzl that you couldn't bear to have exposed.

8. Children

Swizzl is not directed at children. You must be 18 or older to use it, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you believe a minor has an account, email us and we'll delete it.

9. Your consent, recorded

Accepting the Terms and this policy is part of signing in — continuing past the sign-in screen is how you accept them, and we record the time and the version you accepted. If the terms or this policy change materially, the version is bumped and you'll be asked to accept again before continuing.

The tick-box you may see at sign-in is a separate, optional thing: it is only about text messages, it is unticked by default, it is recorded on its own, and it is not how you accept these terms. See section 10.

10. Text messages

If you sign in with a phone number, you're offered an optional tick-box — “Text me about my decisions” — which is unticked by default. Ticking it is the only thing that ever lets us text you about a decision, and we record the exact sentence you agreed to along with the moment you agreed to it. Leaving it unticked costs you nothing: agreeing to texts is never a condition of signing in, of buying anything, or of using any part of Swizzl.

  • What we send — one welcome when you first sign in, one reminder about a decision you started and left unfinished, and, if you text us, replies written by a person at Swizzl. Nothing else. The only automatic reply is a short note the first time you text us, saying we've got your message; every reply after that is written by a person, never by AI. We do not send marketing or promotional texts, ever.
  • How often — at most one welcome per person, and at most one reminder per decision. There is no recurring or scheduled series. The welcome and reminders go only between 8am and 9pm in your local time; a reply to a text you sent us in the last 24 hours can come at any hour, because you started that conversation.
  • Cost — message and data rates may apply. Swizzl charges you nothing for texts; whatever your mobile carrier charges to receive them is between you and them.
  • Stopping them — reply STOP to any of our texts, at any time, and you will get no further texts from us. We record the opt-out on our own side as well as at the carrier, so it holds regardless. Reply START to turn them back on.
  • Getting help — reply HELP to any of our texts and you'll be told who Swizzl is and how to reach a person. You can also email us at any time (section 11).
  • Who sees your number — Twilio delivers the messages and therefore sees your number. When you text us, your message and your number are read and answered in Slack, our team's messaging tool. We do not sell, rent, or share mobile numbers, or the fact that you agreed to texts, with anyone for marketing purposes.
  • Delivery — carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Your phone number is otherwise treated like everything else in this policy, and the Terms apply to texts as they do to the rest of Swizzl.
